Welcome to Copperleaf indexing.  I’m Sheree Mosley (MSocInd).  I am a professionally qualified member of the Society of Indexers, which represents the benchmark in indexing standards in the UK.

A book is greatly enhanced with a clear, well-structured index which will direct readers to all of the painstakingly researched information within.  This is what I will deliver to you.

In a varied career, I have worked as a professional horticulturist and a caseworker within the criminal justice system, before moving into publishing.

My indexing specialisms include horticulture, history, law and order, business management, literature, music, geography, and health & wellbeing, although I do index other subjects at general readership level.

Horticulture

I am a professional horticulturist, having trained under the Historic and Botanic Training Programme with the National Trust, followed by running my own gardening business for ten years.  During this period, I studied for the RHS Level 3 Diploma in Horticulture.  My education and practical experience have led to an extensive knowledge of plants, gardening practice and botanical Latin.

I have also worked as a volunteer for the Hardy Plant Society, in association with the RHS, in maintaining and updating their seed collection records for the Society’s seed distribution scheme.

Law

I hold the CPE (Postgraduate Certificate in Law), subjects including Contract Law, Tort, Criminal Law, Equity & Trusts, Land Law and Administrative Law.  I also worked in the criminal justice sector for over 20 years, working on a range of criminal cases of varying complexity at both Magistrates and Crown Court.  Latterly I specialised in fraud investigations.  I am also a trained HOLMES Indexer.

Texts relating to criminal law and criminology would be particularly welcome.

History

I have a particular interest in history and have indexed a number of texts covering British social, political and economic history, as well as biographies.

Arts, Crafts & Culture

I enjoy creating art, ranging from Chinese brush painting and calligraphy to various types of needlework.  I also, have an interest in fashion, textiles and interior design, having indexed books in this area, including  artists’ biographies.

I also welcome texts on English, French and German literature, which I studied at A-level.

My interest in art and artists stems from being a Friend of the Bowes Museum, which houses an eclectic mix of paintings, ceramics, textiles and curios.

Business & Management

My first degree was in Organization Studies, which encompassed studying human behaviour in the work environment, personnel management, social policy and employment law.

Texts relating to humanities would be welcome.

Begun, Continued

As an author I found it a pleasure to work with Sheree.  Not only did I have entire confidence in her professional skills as an indexer, but I knew that she was determined to create an index that would be truly appropriate for the book that I had written.  After she had compiled the initial draft she was happy to work with me on aspects that involved my personal judgement of significance.  We quickly agreed on certain modifications.  The index that Sheree then produced is an ideal gateway to a lengthy volume full of detailed references.  I also very much appreciated that she worked rapidly to enable me to meet a certain deadline.
